CHH Pub Golf Rules and Regulations

Overview:

  1. * A “hole” is a pub.
  2. * There are 9 pubs or “holes” in the course
  3. * Each hole has a par number assigned to it
  4. * The par number corresponds to the perceived difficulty to consume the type of drink
  5. * The number of strokes you take for a hole is the number of sips* you need to finish that drink
  6. * A “Sip” is continuously drinking until you either have to stop or the drink is finished
  7. - Each hole has a par number; a par number corresponds to the following drinks:
  8. Par 1 - a shot
  9. Par 2 - a small drink or a glass of wine
  10. Par 3 - a bottle of beer (any)
  11. Par 4 - a drink that is difficult to consume, or multiple drinks
  12. Par 5 - the most difficult drink (typically a cold pint of cider)

Basic Rules: Violations of these rules may be subject to penalty strokes.

  1. - Players must dress in suitable golf attire. Those not dressed in golf attire are assessed a TWO stroke penalty.
  2. - Allow 10 minutes maximum for each hole, and to try to keep on schedule
  3. - All players must drink in front of his or her playing partner. Your partner keeps your score.
  4. - You must drink the beverage from the container in which it was served
  5. - Once a player has finished the hole, he or she must wait for all other competitors to finish before moving to the next pub.
  6. - You must finish your drink.
  7. - Bathroom breaks are allowed, however, you must go to the bathroom either before you get your drink, or after you have finished your drink.
  8. - No vomiting in the pubs.
  9. - In the event of a tie, a play-off will be played until a winner is found - unless the players consent to share the Pub Golf Championship title.
  10. - One sip = one stroke. If you pause in drinking, put down the drink or even just tilt the drink downwards, away from your mouth before you have finished, that counts as an extra stroke. As long as the drink is up and pouring into your mouth AND you continue to drink (watch the throat!), it is still the same stroke.
  11. - A hole-in-one must be completed within the 60 seconds.
  12. - you can have other drinks at each hole, but there are no mulligans.

Penalties:

  1. - a TWO stroke penalty is assessed to anyone not dressed in suitable golf attire.
  2. - a TWO stroke penalty is assessed for players found cheating - for example, purposely pouring out a drink.
  3. - up to THREE strokes can be assessed to players for slow play. The penalty depends on the severity of the delay.
  4. - if a player is unable to finish his or her drink, that player is scored a TWELVE for that hole.
  5. - a TWO stroke penalty is assessed to any player who brings his or her drink into the bathroom or out of sight of his or her partner.
  6. - a THREE stroke penalty is assessed to anyone who vomits at a hole. Note, however, vomiting is permissible while traveling to the next hole.

Can we dress up and come and not play? I’ll try, but there are three drinks on the list sure to induce vomiting for me, and I’m not sure I can make it out of the bar first.
